White Bear Lake

White Bear Lake has everything, all centered around its namesake. One of the best features of this town is the fact that the lake isn't closed off from public access. Homes around the lake have great views and access, but the town has made sure to preserve park areas and jogging paths right next to the waterfront so the whole community can enjoy it. The "touristy" part of town is very walkable and family-friendly-- cute shops, the public library, Cup 'N Cone ice cream stand, and there's even a really neat cafe specifically set up for parents of small children to enjoy (Wishing Tree Play Cafe) on rainy days. The schools are nice, and there's a lot of civic involvement here. One annual highlight is the huge community rummage sale every spring on the grounds of Community of Grace (formerly First Lutheran) Church, but you'll find plenty of other happenings in White Bear Lake. Historic and newer homes, lake homes and blocks-from-the-lake homes; you'll find what you want in White Bear Lake.
